It's Not You, It's Your Hormones

70. Big Tech Careers, Brain Fog & Burnout: Chelsey's Story

Episode Summary

She worked in tech, burned out hard, and had a layer of puff on her body she couldn't shift no matter what she tried. This is Chelsey's story and exactly what corporate stress does to your hormones, your body, and your brain, and how to fix it.

Episode Notes

I met Chelsey when we worked together in eco at Reebok. She was the tech lead person everyone from the team needed at all times. Always on, always needed, always giving her time and working late. Duncan Nitro cold brew in hand, a protein bar in the other, convinced she was being healthy.

She came to me about two years ago completely burned out, anxiety through the roof, carrying a layer of fluff she couldn't move. Managing accounts at Amazon, Google, Nike, with her nervous system running on edge 24/7. Anxiety was her baseline. She was working out, lifting, running, and her body wasn't responding. Her goal, written in her journal on day one: just have more good days than bad.

She just showed me her Oura ring. Sleep crown almost every night. And she lost nearly 30 lbs on the way.

This one is for you if you're in tech, e-comm, or any role that never really lets you clock off.
